I am passionate about creating images! Most of the people I work with will comment on how excited I am ALL THE TIME. And I can't argue with that. I am! I'm most excited about the process of planning coming together with many people involved, and how it turns out in the end. Working with models and makeup artists to come up with a final image is exhilarating, and I can't get enough of it!
I love telling a story, and helping others find theirs, so I recently began a YouTube channel of some behind the scenes looks of my art and some personal advice to other photographers looking to improve their images!
Rachel, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Photographer?
My passion is and always will be photography...telling a story through an image. Everything I aspire to evolve around that! Eventually, my biggest aspiration is to work all over the world, to tell different stories!
I started as a photographer in a dark time of my life! I was depressed and anxious and hadn't felt true passion for over a year at the time. I came across a free webinar of photography and decided to wake up each morning to watch it. As I did so, I got excited. When the class about shaping light by Lindsay Adler came on, passion began to rise!!! I had a camera and a light set to start a video blog, so I invited my neighbor over, and we did a photoshoot where I took the advice of shaping light and was instantly hooked! I have never given up on photography since then!
Who is your inspiration in life, Rachel? How do you stay inspired as a Photographer?
In life? I would say, God. He constantly inspires me to push on, to never give up. And when it's hardest to lean on him and take care of myself!
I am sometimes staying inspired as a photographer is rough. But in those times, I take a small break, and rethink why I love it so much! And when I remember that small reason, It helps so much! But when it comes to a dry spell of inspiration, I head to Pinterest, Vogue, or the social media of my favorite photographers and get re-inspired!
We all make mistakes, Rachel; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
Earlier this year I had my camera and some lighting equipment stolen from my car...I regret every day leaving it in there even for a night! It was a rough time for me, and I ended up scarring some relationships through it. I regret a lot of that.
Rachel, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
Excited! And professional. I take great care and thought into what they request and make sure to involve them in decisions and get their approval before moving forward.
Please tell us, Rachel, how do you prioritize work, social life, friends, and family?
